Whether you're passing each other on the street or seeing each other from across a crowded room, what is the first thing that you usually notice when you're observing the opposite sex?

it's hard to explain - they don't have to be the best looking guy or whatever - it's like an unspoken connection.

i definitely agree about eye contact. that is the first contact or the first thing i notice about someone...

Faces. Not just the eyes (although largely so), but people's general faces. I think all that stuff about not judging people by what they look like, etc. is total crap. I think you can tell an awful lot about somebody by looking at their face for 10 seconds, and a lot more by watching them walk for a few minutes.

Just my two cents.

Eyes, smiles, and body....All in those exact order.
Upon introductions and speaking, the personality.

Physically, I notice whatever stands out about that particular person. It also depends on which way they're facing (I can't notice their butt first if they're facing me. :D )

With SomeNight it was his eyes, smile, shoulders, and hands. ;)

Personality-wise it would have to be intelligence and an off-beat sense of humor. :)

The First thing I tend to notice are eyes. However, I tend to also notice how a person carries herself/himself - example:standing tall and straight, slumped/hunched over, the over all posture and stance. It says quite a bit about a person if the arms are crossed, down by the sides, on the hips etc - I guess it is the over all body stance -language...

One of the First things I noticed about my wife when we met was how she carried herself, for a short gal she sure said a mouthful via her body language...

I would say the "confident walk" and also how she carries herself. Oh and one more thing...sex appeal!

I have an appalling tendency to forget to check out the opposite sex. I'm serious. It's not that I'm not interested, I just sort of don't notice unless I'm really looking.

A couple of years ago, absolutely exhausted after an SCA event I'd run, I happened to be looking at just the right angle as a male friend passed by wearing a short doublet and tights, and I thought "Wow ... so-and-so has a really nice a--!"

I'd known him over a year at that point. I'd just never looked. I wasn't especially interested -- he was and is in a stable relationship with another friend -- but I was amused as all get out that it took my being that wiped out (and presumably having lost some inhibitions thereby) to notice a nice butt.

So I'd have to say that personality gets me first, because I just tend not to notice the "parts" unless he's already got my attention.

face
I notice the entire face
that's my first impression

then, my eyes pan
on eyes & hair
then mouth

then I notice facial hair
attitude

gait

then (& you KNOW this all happens in like a few seconds),
if I'm attracted
I will notice MORE
lots more

Like how he treats & responds to others
the words that come out of his mouth
the way his mouth FORMS words

mmmmmmmm
I love lips
and noses

ok
I think I better stop now

Overall fitness level (that matches up well with mine), then eyes. You can hide the chest (I don't care), but have a nice tummy/butt/thighs and I'm chasing!

Hmmm..
well I would say the best place for you to
hang out would be a gym.
There are all kinds of hard-bodies to "chase"
around there.

I would say a man being "fit" is the last thing
on list of what I notice first.
Sure, I like a guy that is in good shape-
but muscles are not a prerequisite in what
I look for in a man.

Guess the first thing I notice is his smile-
and actually his whole face and how able it
is to "light up".
For instance-
does he smile and laugh easily?
I like that!
A sweet, gentle "boyish" grin will get me everytime!
:p

I usually notice the teeth and the smile. I big on teeth...it's strange, but it's one of the very first things I notice. And the smile has to be warm and inviting instead of forced. And Pink...I notice the hands too, for various reasons :D

Based on my memory of first seeing my past flames, I first saw them usually from a distance where you do not see eyes or faces or other up-close details. So, my take was based on seeing someone from a distance versus right up front face to face.

If face to face, definitely eyes first. Then her walk....

And for sh*ts 'n giggles, I try to imagine calculating the velocity of a golf ball traveling thru a garden hose.....or to see if the chrome comes off the bumper, or somesuch silliness (ooh boy, just asking for trouble, ain't ya?)....

I should clarify that I use a home gym but am not into gymrat women, or the gym lifestyle (whatever that is, since I'll never experience it). Sex is better (for me, and certainly I'd imagine for anyone) when one is in better shape (not muscular, mind you...)

I can't chase anymore, I'm caught by a younger woman!!!!

I guess the first thing I usually notice about the opposite sex is her butt. For some reason, a good butt intrigues me in a women. I also look for eyes and smile which are important to me. However. I would say her butt is something I usually notice.
