hey everyone... I am asking anyone who knows anything about Low lying placentas.....
As some know I am 19 weeks pregnant and they found out my Placenta is laying low.. they say in most cases that it will move up and be ok but a chance it won't and the baby may have to be c sectioned..... has anyone experienced this ? or can someone ease my mind a little... I know i will be ok I hope I will at least the baby anyway.. that's my main concern... any thoughts would be apprieciated!!!!

It'll be ok Mer.
My daughter's placenta was low lying with her first one too, it did move up enough so she had no problem. She did wind up having a c-section, but it had nothing to do with the placenta, and everything to do with my grandson's big ol' head.
Chances are, as your uterus grow, the placenta will move up away from the opening, and it'll be fine.
Worst case scenario would be what's called a placenta previa, which, since they know already you're low lying and will be watching, would be avoided with a section.
If they hadn't known, bleeding with labor could be a problem.
C-section, or vaginal, the main thing is a healthy baby. Be thankful your doctors are on top of things.

Thank you Bella.... I apprieciate it....I know i shouldn't worry but its so hard not to.....
They say 95% of low lying placentas move up and the rest results in c section but either way we are going to be ok I think... I hope :)
Thanks

MerAlove - - - My daughter had this happen with her first pregnancy and it did move up. Took a while, but it moved up so that by the time she delivered it was well out of any danger range. We'll hope and pray that happens to you too!!
Meanwhile, just relax and enjoy your pregnancy :)

Hi Mera-
Are you talking about Placenta Pervia?
I had this when I was pregnant with my oldest daughter.
It is very common-
and the placenta does move up in
the majority of cases.
Your Dr. is the best person to advise you in this-
but steer away from the heavy lifting and
read up all you can in regard to the condition-
knowledge is your best defense.
As for me-
I had a severe case and
had to spend 6 days in the hospital on
bed-rest while they waited for it to move up.
It did.
Pre-natal care is excellent now
and the Drs, mid-wives and other medical
experts have so many things they can do now
to insure that your pregnancy runs a safe
and smooth course.
Try not too worry too much and
follow the advice of your Dr-
I am sure your placenta will move
up and all will be fine.

Placenta Previa doesn't set in until after 30 weeks pregnant.... they call this now Low Lying Placenta... I'm not worried..... I am just praying that it moves up so i can experience child birth :).... i don't want to have a C section first but if I have to my baby is NUMBER 1.....
Thanks To you all
You've ALLLLLL been great....
Hugs to all of you!

I was reading your message and I just wanted to let you know that you do not have to be 30 weeks pregnant to be diagnosed with placenta pervia ( low lying placenta ) I was diagnosed with it at 12 weeks and I am now 21 weeks and have been in and out of the hospitol. It has not moved yet but I am crossing my fingers that it will. I just wanted to let you know that.

Hi Mer,
I have heard many cases like yours, specially with the first pregnancy, the placenta goes up in the first couple months.
Soon that cute baby is gonna be jumping up and down :D
Sending you good thoughts~
