We had something happen to us this weekend that I thought I would share. Our carbon monoxide detectors went off this weekend and I had the gas company come in and take readings and we found out that there was very high readings of carbon monoxide in the house. I thank god that we have the detectors. It turned out that the carbon monoxide was coming from the furnace. If it weren't for the detectors we could have went to bed and never woke up. Please do yourselves and love ones a favour and make sure that you have detectors in the house and that the battery's are working. After this I will never live in a house that doesn't have them.

Oh, Brenda, how lucky of you!
I know of a friend who lost his brother because of this problem, and have just read a book by a Frenchwoman who lost her parents for the same reason, intoxication by carbon monoxide.
Be careful everyone!

I notice that this happens alot during the winter seasons. I guess I'd better get a new battery for mine then.:)

I seriously have to think about it because I just had my heater repaired after being out for nearly 3 yrs. When it was turned on, there was alot of build up carbon in it.

Hm, kinda glad that heating here is mostly based on hot-water heating, so no fumes ;)
Mind you, when I used to live in the UK, all these gas heating applications used to scare me to hell, which is why I always slept with open window - didn't even trust our smoke detector :p
