My 8 year old son, Wyatt, just came to me
with something he didn't understand on his
math work-sheet.
I cringed a little when he asked me
for my help-
I'm terrible at math!!
Yes, even second grade math can stump me!!
LOL

Anyway-
on the worksheet there was a
a little oblong box with two dots
on top of each other in
the middle and he needed to write in
this box what "A quarter after three o'clock"
looks like.

Well, I just could NOT get it!!
Wyatt was at a loss too.
I kept thinking-
"How do we put the hands of a clock in
this oblong box with these two dots inside it?"

Geeeze-
after about 10 minutes
I realized the little oblong box was for
a digital clock!!
All Wyatt had to do was write a 3 on the
left side of the dots and 15
on the right side of the dots!!

Man, I am getting too friggin old!!

Most kids today never even learn how to read an analog clock.

Well, that is all I have in my home-
analog clocks and Wyatt could tell time
at 3 years old on them.

It never dawned on Wyatt or me,
that his math sheet was needing the
digital clock answer!
LOL

Time to get with it, I guess....

Both Cade and I suck at math. lol I'm going to have to hire a tutor once we're all living together! (that's about the only thing the ex is good for - he was a bi-vocational minister for the first ten years, he taught, of all things, math.)

Now, if it's history??? I'm there baby....

The only digital clock I own is my alarm radio...

I haven't had a digital watch for years...always ended up cracking the LCD display on them in some fashion. Heck, up until a little while ago...I was wearing my late grandfather's beautiful Sieko watch (after he passed away, my dad got it, had it fixed up and gave it to me as a xmas gift)...but, once I started working in computers more, I stopped wearing it when I was working because I didn't want to scratch the crystal...

I still wear an analog watch, it's just a cheaper (but still nice looking) watch....

Sage, why they do that in your son's workbook, I can't figure out. *lol*

Do they even teach the "big hand and little hand" still in school?

As far as any math problems, a great help is here at a site I found some time ago. This is how all teachers should be I think. http://www.mathpower.com/
