File Transfer Failure YIM!

Ok. My sys works fine (Win2K). I have transfered files to other people using YIM! file transfer.

A friend is running a freshly installed Ver. of Win98 (YES,,, 98). It's a celeron system with 96MB ram. There were 2 diff. versions of Anti-Virus running and I got that taken care of (removed one). His system uses broadband cable and appears to be running correctly. Yet I can not transfer files to him.

YIM! is set to receive files.

Any thoughts? Is it the Win98?

Nope. He is not behind a firewall. And that has usually seemed to be the primary cause.

That's a strange one. Two things to look for...that I can think of at the moment...

On both...

Make sure:

1) Under Preferences...and the Connection section...make sure that "No Proxies" are selected. If that doesn't work...try "No Network Detection"...that has helped some.

Also....under the File Transfer section...

It should say "Port 80"...two other ports you might try are 81 and/or 21.

Try that and see if that helps any.
