Java Problem

Well, my new hard drive was put in, so I needed to download Java again so that I could someday get into the Ageless chat room. I tried it last weekend, but I guess it didn't work because I get a message offering me the download when I try to get into chat. When I click on it to download, it takes me to some Microsoft page offering transitioning through Sun for some reason. So, when I try to click on the Sun link offered there, it takes me to a Microsoft page again! When I searched for Java on my computer, it does find a lot of files from last Saturday, the day I tried to install it. So, I am totally confused. Shouldn't Java be easy?

Patricia...

Yes, it should be easy. Unfortunately, as you can see, there are sometimes it isn't. It can be quite finicky. ANd some java applications will work and others will not...

Two things that I can think of, trying offhand...

You might of already been to this page...but, try going here and installing Java from here...

http://www.java.com/en/download/windows_automatic.jsp

The OTHER thing you can do...and, I suggest this but it's cumbersome for some...

Is, download the Opera Browser with the Java plugin included. It's a 15.7 mg download....and it's a free browser. (It does have one small banner ad at the top...but it's very unintrusive.)

If you haven't, though, try the first option from that site. If you go to the Sun Java site, all the applications can be quite confusing. This site, SHOULD give you what you need. (If you've already been there though, you might try the opera browser option.)

Hope that helps...

If you have any comments/questions...let me know!

*smiles*
