    AARP anyone?

    Do we have any USA forum members over 50 who are also AARP members?

    I got an offer in the mail today to join for $16 a year. I'm wondering if that might be worth it in order to have access to their dental coverage plans. Are there other advantages to AARP that you could recommend?

    I got 25% off my last couple pairs of glasses. I got 10% off my last set of tires. I saved enough in hotel discounts the first year I joined to pay for my lifetime membership, which is actually only 5 years. I always ask when I'm making a major purchase if they have an AARP discount.

    I figure there has to be some benefit to this whole getting older garbage!

    I myself am too young for AARP but my mom and aunts and uncles use it.

    It is good for discounts on items like Bella has stated and as far as the dental and vision it is good to have that extra bit of a discount. Even if it's 10% that's better than nothing.

    My husband signed up for AARP, and got me a membership card as well. We love it. We get all kinds of discounts. I've used my card for meals, hotels, auto parts. It's amazing how many places offer AARP discounts!

    Whenever we are together, we like to use my card rather than his just because I'm only 34 so it makes it more fun!
    Never try to fit in when you are meant to stand out.

    In addition to the member discounts and benefits such as insurance, AARP is a strong advocate for the rights of seniors. AARP offers many educational programs, such as defensive driving and financial literacy. In partnership with the IRS, AARP Tax Aide certified volunteers offer free income tax preparation for those who have low to moderate income and seniors.

    My aunt is a member and highly recommends it. I've been encouraging the grumpy guy to join.
