Do those couples that speak different native languages have an advantage?

The Perks of Bickering in a Second Language -- Science of Us

Itís an interesting idea ó using the stumbling stones inherent in trying to express yourself in a second language, even one youíre pretty good at, as a sort of emotional buffer to prevent a fight from needlessly escalating.
In my experience it is quite frustrating, so I switch to the few insulting Spanish words that I know my hubby knows.
You know it's love when the pain of being apart is greater than the pain of being together.

Interesting. Though Lech is much more "murican-ized" than I can speak Polish. I think it is 50 50. It can make communication a focus or be place to hide behind "no comprende". In our case it makes us better communicators though we will assume the other knows a concept only to find a major difference.
