hi, i'm an oddbird. I'm a female gerontophile which means im sexually attracted to men over 55. I actually met my 65-year old love here. I worry because he is sick and that I may lose him. I get something from him that im not getting younger men.
I have tried to seek pages on internet to see if there are others like me. I found next to nothing about gerontophilia.
I'm 24. :D

Id personally never heard of Gerontophilia myself, so just hit the trusty Google and Wiki and found some definitions and articles which tend to suggest this is a serious personality "disorder" and also associated with rape and violence of the older person?

I dont know if this is how you mean to describe yourself or not.....One page said that in female gerontophiles they are not motivated by violence and revenge but by materialistic motivators. LOL that one struck me as a little bit funny (and seriously cliche)---but apparently they were serious.

Maybe you just mean you find older men sexually attractive and you are not attracted to men your own age? No disorder there.....

Here are the links to the pages I read:

Gerontophilia

I've never heard of the term either.

You have to beware that the psychiatric "establishment" tries to turn everything into a sickness. I would definitely steer clear of words ending in "-phile". Like the word "pedophile", these terms are used to describe people who really are sick.

I like what Ravenglow said. You are a young lady attracted to older men. You're in more company than you realize, I don't care what "Wako-Encyclopedia" says!

Hello, I'm knew! I'm 38 and I am also attracted to men over 50 and I call myself jokingly a "gerontophile", but I believe it's not the correct term for us, as it refers more to a deviating behaviour like someone pointed out already. I just use the term to mean that I like older men, that's all.

Since I was very young I liked older men, for instance at 12 I got a huge crush on John Gielgud who was probably already in his 70s!

At the moment I have a big crush on a lovely 68 year old who looks vaguely to Anthony Hopkins. In saying that, I like him for him, not for his resemblance, although I think he looks amazing for 68 :White hair and blue eyes, lovely, sweet man.
Personally, I find men my age either too self obsessed and selfish or plainly uninteresting! But that's just me, i don't mean to say all men are like that.

I'm glad to discover that I'm not alone in this "gerontophilia"...

there is no disease or ISSUE with loving a person who is older or younger...

I'm in love with my husband... Not because hes older but because he's a great MAN PERSON LOVER FATHER ETC....

Issue with age gaps sometimes is we focus WAY to much of the age rather than the person you fell in love with..

I'm not saying you can't be attracted because they are older or younger... but thats houldn't be the ONly reason your in love with them
