    prenup panic

So I've signed the prenup-its now with him at his lawyers. We wrote it up as a 'what you walk in with you walk out with' agreement. The house we live in is in my name, he has 3 houses (income properties) in his name. He pays half the principal/interest on the house (and the lot and pole barn added on to the property), and I can buy him out for his share of the principal paid down on all property and structures.

I now have butterflies waiting to see if his lawyer tries to talk him out of us getting married-like mine did. According to my lawyer his lawyer will tell him not to sign it as it doesn't allow for any possibility of alimony or community property, and since I'm the 'high earner' its not in his interest to sign. John says this is the way he wants it.

we shall see, but right now I feel like I'm going to puke. I've refused to get married without the prenup-made that mistake last time

is there an emoticon for nervous?

    Chicken!

Seriously, what you guys want is what matters not what a lawyer says.
Don't worry, everything will be all right.
    It's so exciting!

You know that you are cool with this. You know that John is cool with this. Your lawyers' jobs were to help you come up with an agreement that you both are cool with, not to attempt to talk you out of marrying each other.

Remember, you are both perfectly within your rights to say, "I appreciate your concern, but I am ok with signing this as it is." You guys have the final say.
Never try to fit in when you are meant to stand out.

Quite. Remember that the lawyer has a duty to safeguard their client's interests, and the law defines interests in quantifiable terms, so money outweighs romance to it. The lawyer has a duty to not recommend, and warn their client against, any agreement would place them at a financial disadvantage (compared with marrying without such an agreement). It is up to the client to dcide what weight to give to that warning.

prenup signed. his lawyer told him about all the happily married (20+ year) OWYM couples he knew-and that my lawyer has a 'history' with women and was likely trying to hit on me :bleh:

wedding dress is made, rings purchased. I think, weather permitting, we shall jump right into the ocean from the boat after the happily short ceremony-eyes closed without looking.

    When is your wedding date?

Or rather... how many more days will you have the chance for premarital sex?
