The ages of both people involved in the LDR
The length of time in the LDR The location of both people in the LDR How the two of you met Hello - I am new to the board.... I am 51 and he is 30, just passed one year, me UK him The Gambia ( He comes from Senegal but is living and working in the Gambia). We met online and soon became good friends, he wanted more but I said the age gap between us was too much, he then suggested that I go for a Holiday, which I did, when I think of my arrival at the Airport in Banjul and coming through customs, my stomach was in knots....what would I do if he saw me for real and did not like me, I just kept reassuring myself that we where just good friends and it was going to be great visiting West Africa, something I had always wanted to do. Suddenly he was standing in front of me and all of my nervousness left me, this will sound so crazy but it just felt right. I returned back to the UK after my week and then went back two weeks later for a month. We have spoken to each other on the phone every day since we first met and it is so wonderful, he gives me such joy. The only problem is trying to negotiate our way through the British Visa System for his planned visit, he has no desire to become a UK resident but just wants to come over to meet my family and friends but because our laws are changing daily with regard to visa applications and immigration it is becoming a nightmare !!! Sorry I have just realised that I am waffling now and I am also getting off track. It is really nice to be here !!

Welcome to agelesslove Mollie! Looking forward to getting to know you better. I am Whiterose, one of the moderators here, but came here primarily because of my LDR with Remi, who is 18 yrs younger than me and lives in Romania. We are in the process of applying for a fiance visa for him to come to the U.S. so we can marry.
So, we all have alot in common in this forum.

Hello
Thank you ladies for welcoming me to Ageless Love !
Christine I would love to chat with you too and I wish you every happiness !!! I wondered if any of you had experience of, shall we say, difficult reactions from friends with regard to your YM ? It has all been rather an eye opener for me as his relations and friends have been wonderful with me BUT somebody who I thought of as one of my closest friends seems to consider the whole thing a joke. She has actually asked if I was going through a mid life crisis and had I considered the fact that he was just looking for an entry into the UK. Very hurtful especially as we have been friends for nearly 30 years. |
