27th May

As you might well know, I've been struggling a little lately, partly because I didn't know when I would see my g/f again. She just booked a holiday and will be here for 4 days (and a morning). Now I feel much better!!!!!!!

Just wanted to share the good news.

Yeah. Maybe this time we'll do the things we didn't do last time she was here. Then again, knowing us we won't. I've been to Philadelphia 4 times now and I've still not been to the museum she wanted to take me to or to this club she likes either.

Yeah, I'm really psyched!!!! Squeezed the visit in an few hours before I accepted a new job, too, so that I could come in with something 'already booked', take it or leave it.....oh dear, it MUST be love!! haha!

Oh and I am determined to play in the Peak District this time.....um....I think so anyway.......only four days though..........??????

I'm really happy for you - and I can relate. My YM and I just booked plane tickets this morning for him to come down and visit for Memorial Day weekend. I haven't seen him since February, so I'm really psyched.

Have a wonderful time with your significant other, Rob. I doubt I'll be thinking of you once that weekend rolls around, so I'll wish you happiness now. ^_^

I can tell you it is an excellent choice of date. I first met my babe in person on May 27, 2003, and we had a fabulous time that (freezing cold and rainy ) Memorial Day weekend. 2 years later, our life together is better than ever. I love my man!

Have a great time!

And guess what has happened... the lovely people at US Air wouldn't let her on the plane. What happened is that (as is common practice) they overbooked the plane and there were 6 too many people. The last 6 to check-in were supposed to be left behind unless enough volunteers to stay were found. My g/f was told that she wasn't one of them and not to worry, but then they decided that she would be staying behind????? She told me she was practically in tears and tried to explain she was only here for 5 days, etc, but to no use. So they gave her some money back and were packing her off on a plane to London and then to here. BUT... then they couldn't get her on that, so they chucked her on a plane to Amsterdam. She phoned me from there just over an hour and a half ago and said she was hoping to get on a flight half an hour later. That flight was supposed to be here in 10 minutes but has now been delayed over half an hour too. As she didn't phone me to say she had to get another flight I think she managed to get on it (I said not to bother phoning unless there were more problems).

This is on top of my first flight over there being delayed by 4 hours, and not only that but we spent those 4 hours sat on the plane with the pilot telling us every half hour that it would be "just another 20 minutes". So 4 hours sat on a plane and then a 7 and a half hour flight afterwards. Lovely, thank you US Air.

And when my g/f flew here at Christmas, she got a 7 hour delay!

Both those were with US Air too. After my experience I decided I wasn't going to fly with them, even though it's much more convenient to fly direct.

US Air will be getting a complaint from me, you can bet on that.

(thank you to all those with well wishes by the way)

That's terrible. So sorry to hear that Rob. She might want to try Continental next time. I've always had a great experience with that airline.

Hang in there. She'll be there soon and then you can enjoy every moment together.

Rob,
definitely fly with Continental direct to Manchester. I've never had a problem with them in the 1.5 years my b/f and I have been traveling back and forth from Manchester.

She got here, just the 4 hours late! It kinda ruined my plan for what we were going to do that morning, but we still had a great time. We had 2 of what I (and her) think are our best days we ever had together. We find ourselves saying that kind of thing every visit though! Her flight home should be leaving just about now.

I feel like I'm in shock or something....

And Continental.... do they fly direct from Philadelphia to Manchester? I know they're not that expensive either, but I never saw a direct flight from them.

No direct flights from Philadelphia. She'd have to fly to Newark Liberty Airport and fly direct from there. It's not a bad trip and it's still inexpensive. The flight from Newark is at 8PM and arrives in Manchester at 7:40am. Food is decent too

Hope this helps.
