Age Of Love- New Reality dating show

Strwbrries

Today me, Tomorrow you...
So this show will premiere tonight at 9pm on NBC. It features a man in his 30's who will date women in their 20's and women in their 40's.

I usually hate reality tv but Im going to watch this tonight to see how they spin it. Anyone else going to watch?

Yes....

I'm going to watch, out of curiosity mostly..... Although the bachelor on this show says he definitely wants kids someday, which may sway the outcome. Also Women's Entertainment network is doing a show called "Cougars", coming up. I don't like the previews I've seen, and I've posted before about that - but it may be another one to watch.... :tongue2:

I saw the "Cougars" show. It was on their "Secret Lives of Women" series last week. I started a thread about it somewhere...

I plan to watch tonight.

I agree with Coloradogrrrl, the fact that he wants kids kind of skews the show in favor of the younger women - epecially since all of the women are over 40.

It would've been better if it were a divorced guy with kids or one who is already "fixed." LOL

Watching the show now... so far the guy seems disappointed that the women are older--but he's trying to play the good sport. Hasn't even met the younger women yet. Stay tuned!

OH -- but one thing I can say is this: the women in their 40s look great, I would honestly say every bit as good as the women in their 20s in that trailer.

No, but most YW wouldn't prefer him.

Pink:

If the people making the show chose a snipped guy because it would level the playing field then they would assumably choose women who didn't want to have children.

The show is about OW vs YW. Not 'can I trick them into liking me and then I'll spring on them that I can't have babies and see if they run away'. :tongue2:

EDIT: Either way, the show is skewed as it is, it seems. (Not watching.)

Oh, vomit. That trailer makes it look like they've picked a bunch of YW with nothing to offer but looks. They're basically setting it up as looks vs. personality, except most of the OW are pretty damn hot themselves. Nice how they've stacked the decks on that one.

It makes me truly cringe to see how they've got women battling each other based on age here. Like women need more incentive to hate each other for no reason.

Well, that's an assumption I don't know if I'd make, since they didn't feel they needed to level the playing field as the situation stands now. It would certainly make the pool of YW highly atypical for their ages if they did that. And anyways, most 30yo guys aren't going to have had a vasectomy and are probably going to want kids.

Ugh, they are just setting all these poor women (younger and older) up... I feel bad for everyone involved. :(

Did you see all the positive support he got for the older women???!!!

I think society might just be becoming more accepting... maybe?

I watched it out of curiosity, too. I think 1 or 2 of the older women were in their late 30's. Not sure, though. But, I did observe that the older women they selected seemed to appear younger than their actual age. And some of the younger women seemed to appear older than their actual age.

I didn't particularly care for how they introduced them. The older women were paraded out one at a time and introduced to him, each one telling their age to him.

And then when they brought out the younger women, they were all shown in one shot, all of them posing seductively. All such a set up.

I didn't know that this guy wants kids. I think that will play a huge role in how this goes. But, on the other hand, in the very first episode, he admitted that he had not ever dated an older woman before, and I think he was a bit surprised at his own feelings on the issue. So, who knows? Guess, I'll have to keep watching and see how it turns out.

I made the same observations. I thought some of the younger women looked the same age as the older women. Their personalities are seemingly bold in either age group, but I thought that the younger women seemed to be more "catty" - I don't know. Some of the older ones seemed to be ready for a "fight", too.

At the beginning of the show before he was introduced to anyone at all, he was saying how excited he was to be on the show and thought "maybe the mother of my children will be among the group here." The teaser where he is about to tell his decision of who he picked left me with the impression that he's going to choose one of the younger girls. It's just a feeling based on how he said, "I want you to know this has NOTHING to do with age, I'm choosing because of your personality." He could have chosen one of the older women, but I just got a feeling that he's choosing someone from the younger group.

It would be cool to see him choose someone from the older group because after just the first show, the younger ones do seem to be arrogant and snotty, but I think he's going to go with who may potentially be able to give him babies. The whole reason he said he wanted to do the show was because he said he's past the stage of wanting to have all that freedom and wants to settle down now.

By the way - I think the guy looks like he's older than his years, too. I wonder if the producers or director planned for everyone involved, including the guy, to not "look their age".

I noticed on that Yahoo forum that most of the people said to go for the older woman or it was younger women saying "Ooo, gross, you're too old!" to the guy! I guess I never thought that the younger 20-somethings may think he's too old! LOL!

And did anyone catch that one guy's horrid, stereotypical post? He actually said stuff like, the younger women expect too much before they'll sleep with you and the older women are just happy anyone is paying attention to them, so they are an easier lay! What a jerk!

That whole forum - made up mostly of people NOT in AGRs - giving their biased and stereotypical opinions made me feel even more for the ladies in the thread discussing VYM right now!
