Hi and welcome. I moved your thread to the relationship support section.

I don't think though that anyone could answer why someone else does something though, especially something like that. :( But we are good listeners and can offer you support.

I don't think the age gap has anything to do with it, but the fact he's a younger guy who just is not ready or was not that serious does. My stepdaughter's baby-daddy ditched too.. he just didn't want to be a daddy. It was never part of the plan, they were only casually seeing each other, and she says they were taking precautions (and that's another story for another time).

I agree, it's not an age related issue, plenty of guys can be jerks at any age. Although after saying all that, if the guy was really young it could be deemed as more understandble like 18 or 19 , lesson learned take precautions?

I'm so sorry!

All any of us can do is speculate on that, but it's not necessarily a YM thing. Guys do that at any age. Apparently he wasn't ready to be a father, or commit, or whatever.

And it's not just guys. Women do that, too. Especially if the relationship isn't really a relationship (like a fling, friends w/ benefits, etc), or if she realizes that she doesn't want to be "tied" to this guy. I've known women to up and take off when they've learned they are pregnant, and don't even tell the father to be. Or they go get an abortion without letting the guy know they were even pregnant. Had my 23 year old guy friend's girlfriend do that to him. He found out about a month after the fact and he was very upset. He would have totally stepped in and raised the child if she didn't want it...but that's a whole nother topic.

I think the reason is because selfish, thoughtless people come in all ages, any ethnicity, and both genders. Basically anyone can turn out to be a loser... it isn't age dependent.

Met a guy and after I turned up pregnant he runs out

Unfortunately this has nothing to do with you being an OW, this has happened to many women of all ages and the reason is basically this. The guy just isn't ready to be a father, it's not a good reason, it's pretty stupid and selfish but it's their reason and how they feel.

prob for the same reason men(NOT all of them of course) have done this since forever..it's not an age thing, some just don't like to feel trapped into a relationship .that is why women need to be responible for their choices they make and with who they make them with.

IMO children are best in re: to relationships if they are planned and wanted by BOTh parties involved...even that does not mean a person will not change his or her mind.it happens and all a person can do is accept it really.

I'm with GG and LMT! Let's form a posse and pound him into the ground! :)

Realistically though, If you just met a guy and got pregnant by him, it was obviously an accident, one neither of you wanted to happen. Why did he bail? BECAUSE HE CAN! You could have bailed too...abortions are an option, so are adoptions. Having an unplanned baby is a choice. Might be the biggest blessing of your life. If I were you though, I wouldn't have sex again without either being on the pill or having other very reliable forms of contraception on hand. Men who are new lovers aren't really in it to become "family guys".

Best of luck to you and your baby. Who knows? You may meet a man who actually relishes the thought of being the baby's father and is 10 times better a person than the biological father. It happens all the time! :)
