Some tips:
1. Avoid broad generalizations. And yes, saying that something is 99% this or 1% that are broad generalizations.
2. If you feel that a person is making personal attacks against you, do not reply in the thread, but rather report the post.
3. If you feel the thread is getting off topic, do not reply to off-topic posts, but rather guide the discussion back on topic.
4. Do not post your personal information.
5. Think of discussion and debate as a vehicle to learn about new issues. Before posting in a debate, read perspectives from different sources, this makes your post stronger because you have the view of the issue from different angles.
6. Accept differences of opinion and constructive criticism.
7. Avoid the US vs THEM mentality. (Conservatives vs Liberals, OW vs YW, Men vs Women)
8. Think before you post, if you think that your post is going to bring comments that you do not like, will not follow, or will upset you, do not post. An example: If my partner is a drunk that breaks things in the house, and beats the dog, but I do not want to leave him(her), or hear about it, I will not post asking for advice, because the most likely response I will get is "dump the jerk".
9. Ageless should be a place to have fun and interesting discussions, not to pick fights. If you want to pick fights... kill a few zombies in a video game.
